After two installation periods of several weeks, the last joint was eventually sealed on May 30, 2007. Each room was photographed and everything was documented. Marmal Camp in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, was delivered as a turnkey solution and has immediately been put into operation.
All companies involved managed a logistics masterpiece. Starting in December 2006, all equipment and laboratory furniture was quoted for, manufactured, packaged, stowed in eleven sea going containers and delivered to Marmal Camp within a narrow time window of only just two months. Already at that time, the course was set for a fast and smooth installation.
On January 26, 2007, the first team left to carry out the installation in Afghanistan. Within 15 days, house numbers two and three were largely completed, so that the disinfection section, intensive care unit, surgery, A&E and radiology were soon ready for operation.
From May 06 to 30, 2007, the laboratory, pharmacy, ambulance and various specialist units including urology, dentistry and ENT etc. were accommodated in the other two buildings, so that the hospital was fully operational.
"We are committed to fully comply with our customers' requirements, if possible even outperform them. The fact that we were able to meet our goal even here, at temperatures of 50°C in the shade and under exceptional conditions is clearly due to the excellent interaction of all parties involved with the project and the wonderful co-operation on site. Again thank you very much to all contributors without whom we would not have been able to deliver these excellent results..."
